We Grinded

So recording went really well. In fact better than I had planned. Aaron and Billy road up here too. We met Tony and Dennis at the liquor store and bought a 30 pack of PBR, and some ale in a can. We then drove over Robby's house where they have a really awesome jam space in the basement. I was in luck and they had some cables, sound blankets, and they already pretty much soundproof the drum room but we put more up anyways. I also had an added bonus of an excellent snare mic that Dennis had already attached. It sounded so amazing. We recorded all the music tonight. I guess we are crashing over at Tony's place which over in Idaho Springs. But first they said they are taking me to the bar for some food.

Whoregrinding up in the mountains

I'm heading up to Empire, CO to record a demo for the band Whoregrinder. The band itself features members another band from the highlands called Blud Klot. I packed my car up with my Digi 002, monitors, some mics, cables, and some sound blankets. Hopefully they have more mic cables since I really don't have that many. I am supposed to meet Tony up at a little liquor store just on the edge of town.

Heavy Bimbo

I just finished a track for a new noise/punk band I created called Heavy Bimbo. I was listening to a lot of Massonna, Flying Testicle, and Mike Patton stuff lately and created this as a new outlook for me. I used to have a noise project called Kwaidan several years ago. This is not a continuation of that. This is something completely new and all new material will be recorded. I will then shop around at small labels to look for a proper releases of an album.

A few notes on this project, I will only use a computer to record and maybe sequence. All sound will be generated from an analog source, whether it be toys, scrap metal, or other instruments, I want to keep this project as organic as possible.

A Sound Night

I just completed another piece of music called "Partial Piano Concerto". I sampled a single note from the Hellraiser score done by Christopher Young. I ripped it straight from a cassette and through it into Fruityloops. I made a melody that is played through the entire track. At every third measure a new appregio is done with the same sample. I made it sound really nasty as if it was found on a scratch old record. I did this by puting it through an overdrive, a lowpass filther, reverb, and then through a VST called Dub Box. I totally wrecked it with that and it sounds great.

The weather was terrible and it kept me home for the evening. But with that I accomplished a lot. As soon as I finish these last projects I can dive back into making music with full force. When completing monotonous tasks over and over again my mind begins to work with full force to force something out of me. There are times I feel like acting out, almost like shitting on the floor out spite. Its a uncanny urge these thoughts provoke. I hopefully someday can let them rest after my fullfillment in this life is complete.
